Geography
North Yorkshire is one of the most rural counties in the country, with its rustic villages, and fabulous places unaffected by time.
North Yorkshire is also home to two National Parks.
In the Pennine Hills, to the west, lie the famous Yorkshire Dales, with its abundance of farms, fields, meandering rivers and streams and traditional ways of life. Head east and you'll reach the North Yorkshire Moors, where carpets of heather are laced with more than a few dales.
North Yorkshire, however, is about more than country life. Magnificent cities, towns bustling with activity, a rich cultural base with theatres, concert halls, sporting venues and entertainment for everyone; seaside resorts, magnificent abbeys, dramatic castles - North Yorkshire is a place as proud to look to history, as it is to look forward to the future.
